That would be the single most monumental shift in
the history of this franchise. On WIP this morning, Croce said without a doubt he would by the Phils if the team was being sold. When asked if he had contacted the owners already, Pat was silent. He grew up 2 blocks from Connie Mack stadium and has a soft spot in his heart for this franchise. We saw what he could do with a flatlining Sixers franchise, I would get season tickets immediately if Pat bought the team. Dennis |

The team is not going to be sold until Giles and the other current owners are dead & buried. They have made it CLEAR that it is their intention to hold onto the team. So why are you trying to get hope up among folks when you for sure that it is NOT going to happen anytime soon?? |

As good as this would be, Pat would have to put together a limited partnership - he doesnt have the money to buy the team. He was only in for a very small % of the 76er deal. |

1) He is NOT trying to buy the team
2) They are not for sale. "Dennis" <doc.go.irish@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1160584185.170548.319370@k70g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... Quote:

If the city and state were convinced of that, they wouldn't have a severe penalty to the owners to sell the team within the first 5 years of the new stadium deal. After that, they can sell without consequence AND reap the benefits of the new stadium deal. The ownership is clearly all about making money and making money. They don't give two shits about the baseball team. They won't hold onto the franchise if it's not making enough money, and they claim they aren't making money. Quote:
I can't answer your question becuase it's based on false logic. You may "know" this, but I don't "know" this and I have been clammoring for such an event for the past few years now. Pat Croce asked Harold Katz more than 100 times before Katz sold him the team. It's not like the Phils are trying to sell, and they can't for a couple more seasons. Dennis |

Because it would cost them too much to sell now. When they can, they will do whatever is most profitable. Dennis Quote:

Are you NIEVE Dennis?
The Current Owners of the phillies signed a contract with the Builders of the stadium that if they Sold the team within the next THIRTY YEARS the current Owners, the builders and the contracters would get a percentage of the Profits from the new owners. This makes it nearly impossible for the team to be sold until the year 2034 you dont read the newspapers much do you? Dont believe everything you read on the internet Dennis Dennis wrote: Quote:

You obviously don't believe what you just said, because that's what you do. To recap what has been stated in this thread. ON THE RADIO, PAT CROCE SAID HE IS TRYING TO BUY THE TEAM. THE TEAM MUST PAY A PENALTY FOR SELLING THE TEAM WITHIN 5 YEARS, NOT 30. Dennis |

and <gasp> let's not act like contracts and agreements have never been broken and/or re-written. It would seem that the city and state were protecting their butts should the team be sold and moved out of the brand new facility or held hostage for a better deal with the city/state by the new owners threatening to leave. So, the new owner, Philly Boy Pat (who cares if it's a minor ownership percentage if he's the managing partner and has the authority from the money partners), comes in and says 'we won't move/sell for 10 years, not 5 and we like things the way they are' and poof - win/win. Contracts are not iron clad, they are a starting point for negotiations. |
