That would be me.

I've not seen the park in person, but would hope that a so recently
built park would've had mod possibilities like that built in. I can
think of two newer parks who have already done so.

Philly had a worse bandbox rep than we do, and announcers constantly
brought it up during broadcasts (nd espn hi. They moved the fences in
the offseason, and I haven't heard a peep about the unfairness of
their park since then.

Detroit I believe, also did something to the fences as well.

As for the several million from the club, if $3M for Cormier is
considered insignificant, then a few $$$ for home improvement isn't
unreasonable.

I'll ask you, do you believe that the park hinders FA signing of
pitchers, and do you believe that we can actually ever win in this
park as configured?

Before the pedantic police come for me, I meant "newer" as in modern
contemporary stadium built fairly recently sense, not newer as in
having to have been bulit since GAB...

Is it possible? Looking at the park, I don't see how they could move the

believe we can see the fences shifted without several million from the club
going into the stadium.

two questions.
Does the PARK hinder FA pitcher signings.
No. I think the team does.

Can we ever win in this park.
If the Red Sox can win in Fenway, we can win here.

GAB gives up more homers than most parks, but the reds give away too many
outs. We can fix that last part without worrying about the former.

Seriously, watching the ALCS last night, I was in awe of how well the Tigers
play defense. Same thing with the White Sox in last year's world series.
They do not give the other team any extra chances. The reds do far too much
of that, it makes the pitching look worse than it is.

It is interesting (probably more like important) to note that both
harang and Arroyo did pretty well in their home park this season. In
fact, Arroyo pitched *better* at GABP than on the road. harang was
almost identical at home and on the road, but at home he did give up
significantly more HRs. he's a good pitcher, though and so it didn't
hurt him much.

I think free agents potentially not coming to Cincy would be more a
matter of perception than reality. Keep men off base consitently and
you can win just as well there as anywhere.

I assume you mean unfairness to pitchers. I don't know that they've
done anything but the Phillies park is still neck and neck with the
Reds for best power-hitters park in the league. I heard plenty of talk
by broadcasters up and down the dial this year about the Philly park
being tough on pitchers.

If anything, they moved their fences in.

Yes on both accounts.

Riverfront was also a tough park for pitchers.

I can't remember where I saw this, but I seem to recall recently
reading a snippet of an interview either with Wayne or Bob where the
interviewee stated that the Reds did not want to move the fences back
because it would negavtively affect their revenue.

I cannot figure out where I read this.
